What is Cargo securement in freight?
Cargo securement is the federally regulated set of requirements for restraining freight so it cannot shift, fall, or leak in transit. The rules specify how many straps or chains are needed based on the weight and shape of the load, and the driver is responsible for checking them en route. Securement violations are among the most common reasons a vehicle is placed out of service at a roadside inspection.
