What is Flatbed in freight?
A flatbed is an open trailer with no walls or roof, used for freight that cannot be loaded through a rear door such as steel, lumber, machinery, and building materials. Because the load is exposed, securement and tarping are part of the job and are billable work. Flatbed capacity is more seasonal than dry van because it tracks construction activity.
