Freight glossary / Operations and dispatch
What is Dispatch in freight?
Dispatch is the act of assigning a specific truck to a specific load and sending it to the pickup. Once a truck is dispatched the carrier has committed the asset, which is why a cancellation after dispatch triggers a TONU. Dispatch is also the point at which tracking and check calls begin.
