Freight glossary / Compliance and authority
What is Carrier vetting in freight?
Carrier vetting is checking that a carrier is authorized, insured, safe, and actually who they say they are before giving them freight. It combines FMCSA authority and safety data with insurance verification and identity checks. Vetting at setup is not enough on its own, because authority and insurance can lapse between onboarding and the next load.
