What is Double brokering in freight?
Double brokering is a carrier accepting a load and then re brokering it to another carrier without the broker's knowledge or consent. It breaks the chain of liability, because the carrier that actually hauled the freight has no agreement with anyone and may be uninsured for it. It is also a common fraud pattern where the intermediary collects payment and the hauling carrier is never paid.
