What is NMFC in freight?
The NMFC is the National Motor Freight Classification, the standard that assigns commodities to freight classes for LTL pricing. Each commodity has an item number, and some are classed by density while others have a fixed class regardless. Quoting an NMFC item number rather than describing the goods is what makes an LTL quote hold.
