What is Floor loaded in freight?

Floor loaded freight is stacked directly on the trailer floor rather than on pallets, to fit more into the space. It maximizes cubic utilization at the cost of much slower loading and unloading by hand. Floor loaded shipments are a common source of detention and of lumper charges at the receiving end.
