What is Dedicated freight in freight?

Dedicated freight is an arrangement where a carrier commits specific trucks and drivers to one customer's freight rather than serving them out of a general pool. The shipper gets guaranteed capacity and consistent service, and the carrier gets predictable revenue. It is priced on the committed asset rather than per load, so it holds up better than contract rates when the market tightens.

Also called: dedicated capacity, dedicated fleet.
