What is Award in freight?
An award is the volume and rate a shipper commits to a carrier on a lane after a bid, usually for a year. Awards can be split across several carriers on the same lane so the shipper is not exposed to one failing. An award is a commitment to offer freight, not a guarantee the carrier will take it.
