What is Terminal in freight?
A terminal is a carrier facility where freight is sorted between trailers, most commonly in LTL hub and spoke networks. Freight moves from a local pickup into a terminal, across the network between terminals, and back out for local delivery. Each terminal stop is a handling event, which is why LTL transit times are longer and claim rates higher than truckload.
