What is Freight seasonality in freight?

Freight seasonality is the recurring annual pattern in volume and rates driven by harvests, retail restocking, holidays, and weather. Produce seasons pull reefer capacity regionally, and the run up to the winter holidays tightens dry van nationally. Comparing a month to the same month last year rather than to last month is the standard way to avoid mistaking a season for a trend.
