What is Produce season in freight?

Produce season is the period when fruit and vegetable harvests move in volume and pull refrigerated capacity into growing regions. It rolls geographically through the year rather than happening everywhere at once. It raises reefer rates regionally and drags dry van rates up with them where the same trucks could serve either.
