Freight glossary / Documents and paperwork
What is Proof of delivery in freight?
A proof of delivery is the signed document confirming the consignee received the freight and in what condition. It is what a broker needs before invoicing and what a carrier needs before being paid, so a missing POD stalls the money for everyone in the chain. Any damage or shortage must be noted on it at the time of delivery, not afterwards.
