What is Bill of lading in freight?
A bill of lading is the document that acts as the receipt for the freight, the contract of carriage, and the record of what was picked up and in what condition. It is signed at origin and again at delivery, and it governs who is liable if something goes wrong. A clean bill of lading means the freight was accepted with no noted damage or shortage.
