What is Packing list in freight?

A packing list is the itemized record of what is physically inside a shipment, prepared by the shipper. It is used at delivery to verify that the piece count and contents match what was ordered. It is not a contract of carriage and does not replace the bill of lading.

Also called: packing slip.
