What is Mini bid in freight?

A mini bid is a small, targeted RFP run between annual bid cycles, usually covering lanes where the routing guide has stopped working. Shippers run them when rejection rates make the contracted rate fictional and they need to reprice rather than keep covering at spot. They move faster than an annual bid because the lane count is small and the problem is already understood.

Also called: minibid, mid-year bid.
