What is Chassis in freight?
A chassis is the wheeled frame a shipping container sits on so it can be pulled by a tractor. In drayage the chassis is often supplied by a pool rather than owned by the carrier, and shortages of them are a common cause of delay at ports. Chassis usage is billed separately from the move itself.
