What is Cargo insurance in freight?
Cargo insurance covers loss of or damage to the freight itself while it is in a carrier's care. It is separate from liability insurance, which covers damage the truck does to other people and property. Brokers verify a carrier's cargo coverage before dispatching, because a carrier whose policy lapsed is a claim with no one behind it.
