What is Routing guide depth in freight?
Routing guide depth is how far down the ranked carrier list a shipper has to go before a load is accepted. A depth of one means the primary carrier took it, and rising depth means primaries are rejecting freight and the network is leaning on backups. It is a leading indicator of cost, because every step down the guide is a more expensive carrier.
