What is Rate confirmation in freight?

A rate confirmation is the document a broker sends a carrier setting out the agreed rate, the stops, the appointment times, and the terms for the load. Signing it is what turns a verbal agreement into a booked load. Everything a carrier expects to be paid for, including accessorials, needs to be on it before the truck rolls, because arguing it afterwards rarely works.

Also called: rate con, ratecon.
