What is DAT in freight?
DAT operates one of the largest North American freight load boards and publishes widely used spot rate benchmarks derived from transactions on it. Brokers and carriers use its rate data to price lanes and to argue about pricing with each other. Its figures describe the spot market specifically, not contracted freight.
