What is Blind shipment in freight?

A blind shipment is one where the shipper and receiver are deliberately kept from seeing each other's identity, usually to protect a reseller's supply relationship. It requires two sets of paperwork and careful handling so the wrong bill of lading never reaches the wrong party. Getting it wrong exposes a customer relationship rather than only causing a paperwork problem.
