Freight glossary / Roles and parties

What is 3PL in freight?

A 3PL is a third party logistics provider that manages some or all of a shipper's transportation and warehousing. The term covers everything from a pure freight brokerage to a full outsourced supply chain operation with warehouses and staff. What a specific 3PL actually does has to be asked rather than assumed from the label.

Also called: third party logistics.
