Freight glossary / Equipment and trailers

What is Tanker in freight?

A tanker is a trailer built to carry liquids or gases in bulk, used for fuel, chemicals, and food grade liquids. Drivers need a tanker endorsement and often a hazmat endorsement as well. Food grade tankers require documented wash history between loads, which constrains what a trailer can carry next.

Also called: tank trailer, bulk tanker.
