What is Power unit in freight?
A power unit is a tractor, the vehicle that pulls a trailer, and it is the standard way carrier fleet size is counted. FMCSA registration data reports power units, which is why carrier size bands are usually expressed that way. Counting power units rather than trailers reflects how many loads a carrier can move at once.
